Alfred is a relatively young nation, and at the same time the most powerful country in the world; even though recent crises have shaken him a little, he retains his title as 'sole superpower,' and is determined to hold it no matter what. After a period of instability due to his former boss, Alfred is working with President Obama and his staff to fix things, and it seems as though - slowly - the skies are starting to clear. Because of this change in perspective, he's looking to improve his relationships with the other nations.

Because of his relative youth, Alfred is often cheerful, upbeat, and brash; although he's learned that what's right for him isn't always right for others, he still tends to think that his own way of doing things is best, and he can be very stubborn. Alfred doesn't like hurting others, but he also feels that sometimes there's no other choice - Because of this, it's rare for him to regret even the decisions that turned out badly. He's matured over the years, and plans on putting much more effort into staying out of trouble.

Right now he's kind of busy with fixing the American economy, which is hitting several of his states especially hard; because this is right on the heels of the Presidential election, Alfred is a little exhausted, although he hides it well. He feels guilty for not focusing enough on his own country and people, and is trying to make up for it.

Alfred is apparently something of a teetotaler when it comes to alcohol, so he generally avoids it and prefers black coffee; on the other hand, he has an incredible tolerance for illegal drugs, though he officially kicked the habit back in the 80s. (It didn't interfere with business, so...) He likes action movies, catchy music, lots of food and extreme sports, and tends to be sensitive about his weight. When threatened, he tends to fall back on the habits from his unilateral days.

An interesting note about his speech-patterns: Depending on the state he's talking to, his speech is heard as more and more leaning into their local speech-patterns, while the other nations hear him as speaking 'standard American English.'
